Color trends are something that people who follow fashion or interior design tend to keep abreast. Trends come and go with seasons but there is always a sense of flow that moves us from one season to another.
Personally, I always look forward to seeing the new color palettes, textures and ideas which spring forth each season, so I bring to you the 2009 palette presentation by Pantone:
A recap of the color palettes for 2009 include:
A palette of wine country colors with a natural earthy, rustic feel consisting of taupe, olive, grape vine greens, lavender grays and sky blue hues combined with lusty wine colors. This palette implies comfort, informal, hospitable, nonchalant settings.
A palette which mixes designer boutique with shabby chic colors using reused or natural fibers with plant dyes. This palette consists of unbleached white, tender greens, clouded coral, toasty warm tans and cool grays punctuated by velvety red rose tones. This color palette implies non contrived, effectual, a lack of excess and natural fibers.
A palette of colors which marries disconcerting taste with tradition equals an eclectic style mixed with tradition to which new finishes and textures emerge. This palette consists of classic crystal, antique white, caviar black, red mahogany, champagne beige, metallic silver and gold with warm purple orchid colors which add an exotic effect. The effect of this color palette is time honored, tasteful mixes, quality, prestige and historically significant.
A palette that takes a nostalgic look at deco in old films creates a touch of whimsy, indulgence and glam. Many historically accurate colors are included in this palette as well as dusty mauves and mystic rose. New color combinations inspired by fashion forward color include flowing lilac, fragrant lavender, Irish blue, rosy mauve and vibrant purple. The effect of this palette is expectantly and dramatically juxtaposed against rich russet brown creates dreamy themes that are pleasurable, evocative and reminiscent of times past.
A palette that takes you to exotic destinations and focuses on foreign intrigue with artifacts, crafts and artwork that spurs and retells tales of travels and journeys taken. This palette includes dusty rose,
A palette that allows everyday concerns to find a place to rest and relax and unwind and rewind. While everyone knows that cool tones evoke thoughts and provide a place to breath easy, this color palette includes clean clear blues found in cloudless skies over green blue bodies of sparkling water. Pure bright whites and variations of blues including deep ocean and province blues, deep garden green, muted vegetable green and the introduction of blue purple provides a more meditative mood. The effect of this color palette is serenity, stillness, flowing and liquid crystals.
